protective effect of vitamin e against lead-induced memory and learning impairment in male rats
Authors
abstract
conclusions according to the results of this study, administration of vitamin e to rats counteracts the negative effects of pb on learning and memory. to more precisely extrapolate these findings to humans, future clinical studies are warranted. results the results showed that pb caused impairment in acquisition and retrieval processes in passive avoidance learning. vitamin e reversed learning and memory deficits in pre, post or co- exposure with pb (p < 0.001). objectives the purpose of the present study was to assess the protective effects of vitamin e against pb-induced amnesia. materials and methods forty-eight male wistar rats (200-250 g) were divided equally into the saline, pb, pb + vitamin e, and vitamin e alone groups. to induce pb toxicity, rats received water that contained 0.2% pb instead of regular water for 1 month. rats pretreated, treated or post treated with vitamin e (150 mg/kg) for 2 months. passive avoidance learning was assessed using shuttle-box after two months. retention was tested 24 and 48 hours after training. background lead (pb2+) is a neurotoxin substance that has been known for its adverse effects on central nervous system and memory. previous studies reported the potential effect of vitamin e as a memory enhancer.

protective effect of microporous natural clinoptilolite on lead-induced learning and memory impairment in rats
background lead poisoning impairs memory and learning. objectives the protective effect of natural zeolite clinoptilolite on memory and learning impairment in rats exposed to lead acetate was investigated. materials and methods 60 male wistar rats in six groups treated for 2 months with diets contained different ratios of natural zeolite(i.e. 5% or 12.5%), and %0.2 lead acetate (la) concentrati...

15 صفحه اولProtective role of vitamin-D on chronic stress induced-learning and memory deficits in rats
Introduction: Long-term stress disturbs HPA axis and increases glucocorticoids release, which disturbs neural plasticity in the hippocampus and may lead to learning and memory deficits. Noticeably, vitamin D plays a protective role in the nervous system and has receptors in the hippocampus. This behavioral study investigates the possible protective role of vitamin-D against the negative effects...

Objective(s): Bisphenol A (BPA), a xenoestrogenic endocrine disrupting agent, is widely used in the production of polycarbonate plastics and has potential adverse effects on the developing nervous system, memory and learning abilities. The protective effect of the crocin, an important active constituent in Crocus sativus L, on memory impairment induced by BPA in rat wa...

Introduction: Lead (Pb) is a neurotoxin that its different effects on the central nervous system are well-known. Previous studies have reported the potent effects of vitamin C on memory. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the protective effects of vitamin C against leadinduced amnesia. Methods: Male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups: the control (saline), negative contr...
